Priyanka Chopra Sings ‘Hero’….

Posted on 30. Oct, 2011 by in Missy, My World

Was watching Simi Grewal’s ‘India’s Most Desirable’ tonight. It’s one of a few shows that I watch on Indian channels. I don’t think it’s the greatest of shows as I do find Simi a little sickly sweet and over-motherly at times. But I’ve always been interested in knowing the stars as a real person. I used to do something similar when I was on ‘Club Asia Radio’ on something that I called ‘Celeb on Demand’ I used to get up, close and personal with the stars and loved every single second of it!

So I’m sitting there and munching on my noodles when Priyanka is asked to sing by Simi, and she obliges. I have to be honest and do feel like half the things on Simi’s show are all staged and pre-prepped. In this I mean most times the stars are given a penalty by the audience then the stars seems to be all to prepared for it and their penalties are performed very immaculately!! I’m sure the whole world knew but I have just come to know this about her!!! Plus although Priyanka was brilliant, I am sure she had pre-planned and pre-practised her rendition of ‘Hero’! Nevertheless I understand that sometimes celebs to have to be pre-warned and pre-prepped just incase they give you an adverse unwanted reaction on a show.

Where was I? Oh yes. Miss Priyanka Chopra. I have always liked her as I find her to be a very versatile actor and do relate to her as a person. She is very indecisive and she confesses that she can be very dependant. That is so totally me! She also constantly needs re-assurance and advice, and that too is me. Furthermore she has had huge knock backs in her film career and at the beginning she didn’t come across many people that were happy to help or guide her. So totally how it was for me! Plus she is very close to her Dad, and so am I to my Mum. She is also very confident and looking for true love that will make her go crazy. I won’t go on….. ;)

Don’t laugh, but because I wanted to share her singing with you I recorded it off my telly. Whoops sorry Star Plus, please forgive me but I needed to share her skills with the world. It is the dream of Pri’s Dad that she becomes a huge world renowned singing star, so she dedicated the song to her Pops bless her. I was blown away and totally surprised that Priyanka Chopra can actually sing!! You go Pri. I’m very proud of you. In fact I think that you should now sing your own songs in all your movies. It will so give you a different edge to the rest my ‘Desi Girl’ xxx

If you enjoyed this post, please share it with your friends!

Yeh ok Binay the thought did cross my mind that she probably would have been slammed by those steely judges on X-Factor. But for what she does and who she is I was loving she had another great talent. Theres lots taking it up now…Farhaan Akhtar, Hritik Roshan, Abhay Deol, Sanjay Dutt and now Pri. What other females have?

The real singers in Bollywood should come forward, they are the real talent. Bollywood stars take all the glory ever time due to acting out the songs in movies.

India has brillant singers, usher utap, Sonu nigam, shaan.

It’s the image that sells these actors and not substance.

Get what you’re saying dude. But the singers behind the actors do totally get their due. If I’m playing their songs on radio I will always credit the singer and not the actor.

Most Hollywood actors sing for themselves if they do a musical. Do maybe Bollywood should follow suit. Having said that it would put tons of playback singers out of work.

I didn’t know you were into Usha Uthup. She’s one of my favourites. I love her personality and deep rolling strong voice.

I’m all for real talent such as usher utap, look at how versatile she is and her humble attitude. Even Kailash kher is a raw talent but is more geared towards Sufi influences which is not to everyone’s liking.

Fact is the singers don’t look good as the actors who act out their songs. Therefore in an image driven video culture the video would flop alongside the song.

Bhangra is also guilty where the producers and all up in the videos.

Damm you’re on it like a bonnet this morning Mr Binay. Youre making up for being AWOL. Lol

Yes I get what you’re saying. It is all an image led industry or else I would have been a top Bollywood actress today. Ha ha. Although I reckon I could still bag a fat mother role. But sometimes people like adnan Sami and that hashmi dude proved that wrong.

I think music driven films are the very essence of Bollywood and has been since it’s birth. Bollywood would never be the biggest film industry in the world without it’s playback singers.

    Actually

I hate movies with songs in them.

One of the best Bollywood movies without songs is Black. And what an educational and moving film that was.

Even Taare zameen par was an excellent film but didn’t need any songs to carry it as the subject matter was solid.

Slumdog millionaire brillant and not dominated by soundtrack but reality.

I sometimes feel Bollywood could do so much more then the song and dance and make some groundbreaking movies with the talent pool that exiists in India.

What Bollywood needs is diversification then they could expand to audiences like me who currently feel alienated and disconnected by what they are currently serving up.

I would love to see an Indian version of Black swan.

That’s my kind of movie with a soundtrack.

I want to see fine Art and not distorted images.

Indian audiences would reject Black Swan Bollywood style. Most art or intellectual films, or those that try to diversify flop…BIG TIME Binay.

Why? Its simple the man on the street on India wants to go to a movie to escape and enjoy, and not be made to think or feel sad by thinking of reality!

She can sing, got to give her that, even better then the misfits that appear every Saturday on XFactor :-).

They need to get a new host, you worry if Simi Grewal moves her body or face at any pace, then she might crack and crumble!

Re: Bollywood movies, it’s the songs that make them, not the script. Very rarely do you get a movie that has an excellent soundtrack, it’s well co-ordinated, the scene is just right and it doesn’t go from Delhi train station into the Swiss Alps. Guzaarish the movie is one such film for me this year.

On the whole, Bollywood is DROSS, and I am shamefully going to do and watch RA-ONE just to have a laugh, human nature and I am curious with all those special effects floating around.

Re: Bhangra, even more DROSS! Video’s either shot on a driveway (paved), a club or a homemade bar in the background. How this cr*p makes it on tv is anyone’s guess.

Oh, Happy Halloween by the way!

I will go Nandos and then watch the movie afterwards.

I just have to see it! I can’t call myself a film critic if I don’t see movies across the wider spectrum.

Oh, the term Dross, 15th Century English term to refer to “rubbish”.

I get the hole escape stuff.

But to me it’s abit out of touch with reality. Dancing and singing in the rain, x amount of costume changes, the false over the top emotions.

There will come a point when the must look at alternative scripts.

Take my hat off to aamir khan who is trying to push the boundaries and bring a new dimension to Bollywood.

You know I asked myself, will you have an actor, actress, with 20 dancers behind them in 20 years time?

      Answer: Probably!

They have been doing this for over 60years and nothing much has changed, apart from a handful of fantastic movies popping up time to time.

However, what you will see is the emergence of love-making scenes, not just two sunflowers getting together or a rocket shooting into space!!!!

Yes that’s exactly what I want to see full on love scenes.

My god this should be simple for Indians considering the population in India.

Binay. Can I give you my twopence worth. I know what you mean. And I love the fact that you want to break barriers. But the Indian audience are not ready for full on love scenes despite how big their population is. They like to keep that behind closed doors
